Questions about Industrial and Commercial Structured Cabling

Direct, technical answers to the main questions about structured cabling for industries and warehouses.

How much does structured cabling cost for an industrial warehouse?

The cost of structured cabling for an industrial warehouse ranges from R$ 550 to R$ 1,200 per point (reference values, subject to a technical survey), depending on project complexity, distances, cable type (Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic) and required certifications. For industrial projects with more than 100 points, we offer special terms.

Factors that influence the price:

  • Total warehouse area and ceiling height
  • Number of network points
  • Cable type and category (Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic)
  • Fluke Networks certification included
  • Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, electromagnetic interference)
  • Need for special infrastructure (cable trays, conduits, IP67 protection)

What is the difference between commercial and industrial cabling?

Industrial structured cabling differs significantly from commercial cabling because of the extreme operating conditions found in factory environments. While commercial cabling operates in controlled environments, industrial cabling must withstand:

  • Extreme temperature: -40°C to +85°C (industrial) vs. 15°C to 25°C (commercial)
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI): Motors, variable frequency drives and CNC machines generate noise that requires shielded cables
  • Vibration and mechanical impact: Industrial cables have a reinforced jacket and IP67 protection
  • Moisture and chemicals: Industrial environments require cables with corrosion protection
  • Specific standards: NBR 16521 (industrial) vs. NBR 14565 (commercial)

Eight TI works in both industrial and commercial cabling, with a higher concentration of projects in medium and large industries and offices, ensuring compliance with all standards and with the operating conditions of each environment.

How long does it take to install structured cabling in a factory?

Installation time varies with the size of the project:

  • Small (up to 50 points): 5 to 10 business days
  • Medium (50 to 200 points): 15 to 30 business days
  • Large (over 200 points): 30 to 60 business days

The schedule includes: technical survey, execution design, physical installation, testing and Fluke Networks certification. We work night shifts and weekends so as not to affect industrial production.

What is Fluke Networks certification and why does it matter?

Fluke Networks certification is the industry gold standard for validating structured cabling. We use Fluke DSX-5000 and DSX-8000 equipment to test and certify every network point, ensuring:

  • Compliance with standards: ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801, NBR 14565 and NBR 16521
  • Guaranteed performance: Attenuation, NEXT, FEXT, Return Loss and Delay Skew tests
  • Extended warranty: 25-year manufacturer warranty (Furukawa, CommScope)
  • Technical documentation: Detailed reports with graphs and analysis for every point
  • Traceability: Unique identification of every cable and network point

Without Fluke certification, there is no guarantee that the cabling will support the speeds and critical applications of Industry 4.0.

Which cable should be used in an industrial environment: Cat6, Cat6A or fiber optic?

The choice of cable depends on the application, distance and environmental conditions:

  • Cat6 (up to 1 Gbps / 100 m): Ideal for office networks inside the plant, IP cameras and telephony
  • Cat6A (up to 10 Gbps / 100 m): Recommended for industrial automation, IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), servers and high-performance switches. Includes shielding against EMI.
  • Fiber Optic (up to 100 Gbps / 40 km): Required for distances above 100 m, environments with high electromagnetic interference, network backbones and connections between buildings/warehouses.

Eight TI recommendation: For industries, we use shielded Cat6A (F/UTP or S/FTP) as the standard, with fiber optic for the backbone and long distances. This combination ensures performance and resilience in critical industrial environments.

Which regions of São Paulo does Eight TI serve?

We serve the entire São Paulo metropolitan region and the interior, with a focus on industrial hubs:

  • Greater São Paulo: São Paulo (city), Guarulhos, São Bernardo do Campo, Santo André, Osasco, Barueri, Cajamar
  • State interior: Campinas, Jundiaí, Sorocaba, São José dos Campos, Ribeirão Preto, Piracicaba, Indaiatuba, Hortolândia
  • Coast: Santos, São Vicente, Cubatão (industrial hub)

For large projects, we serve the entire state of São Paulo and neighboring states. Contact us to check availability.

Do you work with the NBR 16521 standard for industrial cabling?

Yes, we are NBR 16521 specialists. This is the Brazilian standard specific to structured cabling in industrial environments (ABNT NBR 16521:2016 - Structured cabling for industrial environments).

NBR 16521 establishes requirements for:

  • Cabling in environments with extreme temperature, humidity and vibration
  • Protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI)
  • IP (Ingress Protection) ratings for connectors and equipment
  • Network topologies specific to industrial automation (ring, star, bus)
  • Integration with industrial protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP)

All of our industrial projects strictly follow NBR 16521, in addition to international standards such as ISO/IEC 11801-3 and ANSI/TIA-1005-A.

What warranty comes with industrial structured cabling?

We offer a 25-year warranty on the entire certified structured cabling system, including:

  • Cables: Furukawa GigaLAN or CommScope (25-year manufacturer warranty)
  • Connectors and patch panels: 25 years against manufacturing defects
  • Fluke certification: Lifetime technical documentation
  • Eight TI workmanship: 12-month installation warranty

Important: The 25-year warranty is only valid with Fluke Networks certification. Cabling that is not certified does not carry the manufacturer's extended warranty.
